Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University is a transparent, participatory, and entrepreneurial institution that produces knowledge and technology, contributes to the economic, social, and cultural structure of the region, and is a preferred university.
Named after Gazi Osman Pasha, the Hero of Plevna, our University was established in accordance with Article 24 of Law No. 3837 dated 03.07.1992, "On the Amendment of Decree Law No. 78 and No. 190 Regarding the Organization of Higher Education Institutions," which adopted, with amendments, Decree Law No. 41. In accordance with Law No. 7141, "On the Amendment of the Higher Education Law and Certain Laws and Decree Laws," which entered into force on 18 May 2018, the name of our University was changed to "Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University."
At its founding on 01.11.1992, our University incorporated the Faculty of Agriculture, which had been established under Cumhuriyet University, and was formed together with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Niksar Vocational School, Tokat Vocational School, Zile Vocational School, Erbaa Institute of Natural Sciences, and the Institute of Social Sciences.
Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University operates on the Tokat-Turhal highway, 9 km from the city center of Tokat, at its Taşlıçiftlik Campus, at the Ali Şevki Erek Campus located in the city center, and at facilities in 8 districts.
Listed in order of establishment, our University comprises the following faculties: the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Erbaa Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Erbaa Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Turhal Faculty of Applied Sciences, and Niksar Faculty of Applied Sciences. Graduate education at our University is provided through the Graduate Education Institute. Education and instruction also continue at the School of Foreign Languages, Zile Dinçerler School of Tourism and Hotel Management, State Conservatory, Vocational School of Justice, and the Vocational Schools of Almus, Artova, Erbaa, Erbaa Health Services, Pazar, Niksar, Reşadiye, Tokat, Tokat Health Services, Turhal, Zile, and Turhal Health Services.
Health services at our University are carried out by the Health Research and Application Center, the Dentistry Application and Research Center, and the Palliative Care Research and Application Center. The Agricultural Research and Application Center also undertakes important duties in the field of agriculture through education, research, and service applications.
As of the current academic term, our University has nearly 35,000 students. Education continues in 120 associate degree programs, 79 undergraduate programs, 85 master's programs, and 37 doctoral programs. Our University has 1,533 academic staff members and 2,055 administrative staff members. The academic year at our University consists of two semesters.
At our Taşlıçiftlik Campus are located the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Sport Sciences, the Graduate Education Institute, the State Conservatory, the School of Foreign Languages, Tokat Vocational School, and the Research and Application Centers. At the Ali Şevki Erek Campus, located in the city center, are situated the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Health Research and Application Center, and the Dentistry Application and Research Center. The faculties and vocational schools located in the districts have their own respective campuses.
